Lighten
Lighten – Levels 1, 2 & 3 (The Literacy Foundation) builds a strong bridge to literacy through a structured foundation that guides students from letter recognition to confident reading and writing using a high-energy, phonics-based approach.
Program Snapshot
Designed for learners aged three to fourteen, this one-month intensive course is divided into three distinct age-appropriate tracks. Whether your child is just starting or needs extra support to catch up with their cohort, Lighten provides the structural "blueprint" for English reading and writing.
Level 1 (Ages 3–7): Basic phonemes, letter strokes, and 3-letter words
Levels 2 (Ages 8–14): Focuses on blends, digraphs, advanced decoding, and the development of structured sentences and simple paragraphs.
Who Would Benefit
Students between 3 and 14 years old who require additional support in reading and writing or those who are starting their English journey from scratch. No prior knowledge of reading or writing is required.

How the Program Works
We use the LSRW (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing) framework combined with the VAK (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic) method to ensure that every learner—regardless of their learning style—stays engaged.
Course Curriculum
Course levels are decided on the age and abilities of the students - content is mapped and customized.
Alphabet Mastery: Recognizing letters and identifying their corresponding sounds.
Word Building: Progressing from 2-letter words to complex 3-letter combinations with proper spelling.
Sight Words & Blends: Using common sight words to build reading speed and fluency.
Guided Writing: Moving from single words to simple sentences and, eventually, short, clear paragraphs.

Successfully completing Lighten prepares students for the Enlumina or Brighten pathways for advanced grammar and pronunciation.
Assessment Plan
Progress is monitored via flashcards and oral questioning to ensure pronunciation is accurate. Writing accuracy is checked through structured practice sheets, while reading and spelling are evaluated through decoding activities and word-building tasks using blends and sight words.
